The next day it smelled the same and when we came back from a hike later in the day, it got overwhelmingly stronger.

It was late in the night so we did limited searching and ended up opening some windows and going to bed. The problem came in when later in the first night, we started getting a sewage smell throughout the entire lodge. We were all very pleased with that as well as the large wraparound deck that was completely covered during the rain we had. I organized a trip for 6 couples to stay in this lodge, which was nice because it was new, spacious, beautiful and everyone had their own bedrooms. When you’ve rented a pricey lodge and don’t want a plumber to be there for 1 of your 2 total nights, I think. Upon writing the owner on this issue, I was told that this was a known issue and they would not refund any portion of this because they didn’t have to disclose this and I should have called them. We decided it wasn’t worth calling since we were there only 2 nights and didn’t want one of them ruined by having a plumber there for several hours disrupting our time left. Thinking it might be old water in the laundry room, we ran a load of laundry to cycle it through but it ended up getting a lot worse as the night went on.
